My parents are stubborn dbags about everything I mention to them. We have three cats, one of which is a 17 year old Siamese. He has only two teeth; a canine and a molar, yet my parents insist on him eating dry cat food. He is quite thin, not starved, but thin. He also has very loose fur and sheds excessively, but he does not have any bald spots. He is not active at all, sleeping the whole day except to eat, drink, and do his business as well as to find a new place to sleep. He is very affectionate though, and purrs a lot when petted or held. My parents prefer to not hold him though, due to his shedding. Would any vitamin deficiency cause him to shed his fur this much? Is there any possible way I can make him home-made soft/moist cat food so he can actually eat it more easily? I know he can't chew on his food, since times when his stomach gets upset, the food he brings up his whole, unchewed pellets. My parents refuse to get him moist canned cat food just because our vet doesn't mention it nor do they ask the vet about it. And that's if they go to the vet. What can I do to take care of my cat?
First of all, I posted a previous ? because our 12 week old Zoie has developed a bald spot on her neck. 2 days ago it was a little scabby, and today it was all out red. I've been cleaning it, as yesterday, I didn't think to go to the vet because I wasn't sure if she had just scratched herself. It doesn't look like ringworm. I haven't seen her try to scratch it, and she doesn't seem to mind when I treat it. Its like a dot of red. A spot about the size of your pointer finger, right in the back of her neck. Someone suggested in my previous post, that she may have a food allergy.
That being said, we recently found out how all dry cat food was bad for cats. So we gradually added in wet food, and now she eats 1/4 can wet mixed with an oz of dry food. Twice a day. And dry food in between and at night. The wet food we got, was the same brand as the dry, Purina. And we get a variety of beef, chicken and then the gourmet grill, which contains "poultry". And I was reading how beef and chicken, can be a common allergy related issue for cats.
Anyone that can give me more information would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to figure out, since this occured after she'd been eating it for 2 weeks, if the wet is the cause, OR if she has developed an allergy to the dry. When we got her, her previous owner was feeding the litter Purina kitten chow. So we stuck with that untill I could figure out what to switch her too. I can do Iams, and I know that ive read TONS of things on how "you need to feed your cat the expensive stuff because it's the best" but I also know people whove owned cats that lived off of all the different kinds of lower cost brands, and lived for a very long time and never had a single health issue they're whole life. So that being said, please don't push me to feed the home made diet, or the 1000X more expensive diet. I would just like some information on cat allergies and what I should do to see if this is the problem.
And for last, if I were to switch her food, IF this is an allergy, would this spot go away?
Thanks in advance. I really appreciate it. I just want to get this figured out so I can get rid of her spot :( and so she doesn't get worse. Thanks again.
P.S. Shes going to the vet Monday, so please don't yell at how I need to get to her one. I'm ahead of ya on that one. I just need something to put my mind at ease in the slightest way, I'm worried about our little girl.
Correction* not ALL dry cat food, I mean't how an all dry food diet was bad*
Thanks for the smartallik comment, my vet TOLD me not to come in for an emergency visit because its not an immediate emergency. He said to keep cleaning it and keep an eye on it, and if she started having other issues, to then bring her in over the weekend. Other than that, I have to wait until monday because they aren't open untill then. So thanks. :)
She's had a headache for little over a week, and it got bad enough a few nights ago that I took her to the ER. They did a CAT Scan and an EKG, both of which came up clear. They gave her three drugs while we were there: an unknown drug that we both can't remember the name of, Benedryl, and a bag of Saline. Once we got out of there, her headache was much better.
After watching her habits for the last few months, I personally don't think she drinks enough water. She has food allergies, so her food choices are limited, and she has a sweet tooth. So most of what she eats is chock full of sugar. I think she doesn't drink enough sugar-free liquid, that she might be dehydrated, but she won't hear of it. She says her urine is the right color and so tunes me out when I try to push her towards water instead of fruit juice or home-made butter beer.
Am I right? Would cutting down on the sugar help? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Ideas, anyone?
For the record, she is allergic to wheat, eggs, peanuts, and gluten.
I just got a pet rat, and really don't want to buy the premix stuff at the pet store...especially since it seem so expensive x.x
I have a whole list of things that I can safely feed my little buddy, and, I was going to attempt at making my own rat food mix.
However, I am unsure as to exactly what is the best kind of DOG FOOD to put into the mix (I've heard you can put cat food in there too so...but I'm not sure).
I am not asking about fat content, I'm aware of finding a dog food that is low in fat content, I'm asking what are the best BRANDS that aren't too super expensive.
Also, bird seed? I was going to get some unsalted sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds, however is there a good brand of bird seed I can also mix in with everything?
I am NOT ASKING for someone elses PREMADE HOME-MADE RAT MIX SUGGESTION! I want to make my own :) All I need answered are the above questions.
BleeBlah, if you were half as fking smart as you are trying to sound, you'd KNOW that most rat food mixes have dog food in them. So, do me a favor and go try and be smart on someone elses question.
Hey,
I've heard that making your own dog and cat food can be better for them than buys tin food.
We have a 5 year old golden lab and a 9 week old Alaskan malamute, we also have two cats.
They all have a good quality dry food, which is brought from our local vet, but they suggested we try making our own food instead of tin food, I didn't think it would be to hard but now I'm worried about making sure it has everything they need.
im currently renting out my spare room to friend of mine hes paying 350 a month well the council is this includes all his utilities, council tax,tv license the lot except food we are also paying for sky multiroom and to put a phone in his room and he also has acces to are internet we have aloud him to get a cat and dog so i think im being more then reasonable.
He then pays 30pounds every two weeks for food witch im wondering if this is a bit low but i don't have much experience in this matter.
My girlfriend makes sure he has a cooked dinner every night and puts it in the microwave if he asks but currently he is complaing we don't feed him enough. Now im not small person so i eat my fair do and i have trouble eating all my food so far in one week he has had home made pie roast dinner spag spog.
So i guess my main question is what am i doing wrong here.
thanks for the comments there is some good advice there and i think he is takeing me for Advantagege ill talk to him tonight about it also is 30pounds a fortnight to low for the food as ive spent over 200pounds so far and im not even at the end of the month.
What should i get if i want 1 cage for 2 hamsters, preferably fancy russian dwarf hamsters. I'm getting 1 christmas present this year and it can cost up to 100$, plus extra food and supplies for later through out the animals' lives. I'm responsible and i have a cat that's curious, should i get a hamster in the first place? Anyway i will take care of them, i am an animal lover, and i've done all my research.
Where should i go for the whole thing? (hamsters, supplies, etc... pet smart?)
What type do you recommend if the selection isn't that great? ( there are fancy russian dwarf hamsters)
I want 2 dwarf hamsters, should i get boys or girls?
Are store bought or home-made toys better?
I don't want to spend too much money either, like i said it's around 100$ i can spend, maybe more.
Please recommend me anything you can with in the next month.
Thank You so much! :)
one year ago i found a kitten that her mother were killed by dogs and it was sick and hungry i raised it and taked care of it

i wasnt feeding here with just these for a year she had some other thing like spaghetti or kabab or other human foods which she really liked
i had too feed her with these or she would die

she is one year old now and feeding her with that foods is no longer efficient and it looks like she doesnt like them any more
please help me if you know something cheap and good for cat food
and how often should i feed here now?
thank you
Hey, I've read that bought cat food can end up harming your cat as they get older, and it isn't very healthy for them?
I've looked up a lot of cat food & treat recipes, and was just wondering is it healthier to make food yourself rather than buy it? :)
Apparently, it can make your cat a lot happier, healthier and increase their life span.
what is a better home made food for cats
I have a 15 year old male cat, and not too long ago he's started to urinate in random spots in our house. It's driving my mom absolutely crazy because she's the only one in our whole family who knows how to clean up pet urine. About 2 or 3 weeks ago, he went behind one of the chairs in our family room on the expensive rug we have in there. It's kind of a cream colored rug. We've been trying all sorts of stuff to try to get him to stop like putting foil, and other textures that cats are supposed to dislike in the spots where he goes, but he still urinates. It's kind of tricky because cats are supposed to hate the sound of foil, but my cat is completely deaf. And what makes it worse is my cat has full access to that room because it doesn't have a door. it has two stairs that is blocked off by a gate, but it also has these wooden bars that he can slip right through. He's also an excellent jumper. (Yesterday I was watching tv and he was down there in the room with me, and I heard the foil crunching. I looked over and saw him start to go so I picked him up and put him outside, but while he was being carried out, he went all over the pants I had been wearing. They are green cargo capri pants. I immediately threw them in the wash and changed.) So, we are all very concerned about this problem. We try to keep his box clean. We do have another cat and they don't get along, but they've been living in our house together for 10 years and this problem has just recently started. There's also a dog in the house (it is one of those bichons) and the dog does not like my cat at all. It will growl at him, chase him, and overall give my cat a hard time. Especially at night.
More recently, my cat has been drinking a lot of water. I know it's summer, but he will drink water every chance he gets. I feed him well. He actually eats a lot. Both dry and wet food, and is a healthy weight. I've asked my parents to take him to the vet but they refuse because they don't want to bother paying the vet bill. They just say 'He's just old.' I'm really concerned.
Is there anything I can do to possibly help Phil (that's my cat's name)? I love him so much. Like any home made cat repellents to keep him off the rugs or anything, or any solutions in general? I hate to see him go through this.
*he is neutered
Does anyone make food for their pet? And would the pet know the difference? My cats lick my feet after I finish work, so I am pretty sure they are not offended if there isn't a sprig of thyme on them. And if they had home made cooking where I live, I am sure they would prefer a tin. Is it just an awful selling point?

recently few days ago, one cat came to our place then i fed her with milk and bread, so i am ready to keep that cat to my place. So please suggest me good home-made and vegetarian food for my new friend (cat).... :-)
I am after some recipes from other cat owners who feed their cats home-made food. I'm after recipes that are relatively easy to make, nutritionally balanced, and also appealling to my cat. He is not particularly finicky in terms of what he eats, but he is picky when it comes to textures. He doesn't like anything that is too chunky, for example, chicken pieces.
im breeding rats for my snake collection i have over 50 rats and i need a new food that is NOT LAB BLOCKS i don't have any sort of way to get any lab blocks no pet stores near me have it except for one store and it's 20$ for a small bag * yeah right * so what else can i feed them something that's big enough to fit in the food hoppers i heard you can feed them dog food but not cat food cause there's to much fat or protein in it is this correct?
and about home made what could you put in it? i heard you can feed them total as well but they don't sell that stuff in canada..
I run a feral cat colony and I can't remove the food at night as I have several cats coming and going at all times of the night most of them males so as you can guess removing the food isn't an option. I need ideas on how to discourage the raccoons at night because I am afraid that they will turn hostile and attack the female that lives in my basement as a permanent resident. Does anyone have previous experience getting rid of raccoons? I was thinking about wiring the porch with motion activated speakers that will play a dog barking or mixing up a home made pepper spray to hit them with using a squirt gun through the window when they show up as they show up every time same time every night. Does anyone else have an idea on how to get rid of them?
just a note to hudsongray or anyone else that suggest removing the food and they will adjust. I had tried that before for three weeks and my female that lives in the basement would not come out and eat during they day at all. My parents would go past the window and see her looking around every night for her food on the porch and she wouldn't eat other wise. I will not remove the food again and risk starving my cats I have a duty to them as a colony care giver and will not risk starving my family because of some dumb raccoons. I would do the unthinkable and shoot them before starving my little family again. For me shooting any animal is unthinkable but my colony is more important to me than the raccoons.
and treats plz
i have two 2year old cats and they are indoor pet

today i visited my doctor and she warned me about special disease of cats which harms specially women
is it true ?
what type of disease ?
I really want a cat and my parents say the house will end up smelling bad. But i think it depends on what you feed the cat or animal. Does it depend on the chemicals that are in the cat nip and can i make home made food for my cat? That what i used to do in my home country so will it work on what i feed it homemade or store bought?
My cat (Kittu) was diagnosed with jaundice about a month ago. The yellow colour disappeared two weeks ago but my cat still seems quite lethargic and not his usual self- doesn't move around much, except to change his sleeping place, or to drink water from his water bowl and to go to his litter box.
During the first two weeks we fed him chicken stock. Since the last twelve-fifteen days we've been feeding him boiled chicken liver (in the form of paste, which he licks from our fingers, and rarely eats on his own) and chicken stock (through a syringe), every 3-4 hours. He doesn't consume anything else - no boiled chicken and no chicken kibbles (Royal Canin Fit 32). He has been very finicky as far as his food was concerned and has always had a complete aversion to milk/milk products or home-made food.
Initially, the vet had prescribed an antibiotic (Amoxicillin), Liv.52 (a liver tonic for improving the functional effeciency of the liver), a multivitamin tonic (Sharkoferrol) and Betnesol (for three days). After a week of antibiotic, we could see the yellow colour disappearing. However, two days after we stopped the antibitoic, Kittu vomitted thrice in 48 hours, and the yellow colour reappeared. The vet adviced us to resume the antibiotic again (for five days, but with a reduced dosage) and also prescribed a medicine (Digytone) to aid in digestion. Two days after we completed the antibiotic course, he vomitted again and the antibiotic was continued for five more days. Thankfully, the yellow colour didn't appear this time around.
It has been 10 days since we discontinued with the antibiotic. There was just a single episode of vomitting a week ago and we realized that it might have been due to a prolonged gap between his meals. We've been very regular in feeding him his meals since then and thankfully, there hasn't been a recurrence.
My concern is that though my cat's diet seems to have improved slightly (almost 2-4 chicken livers and 50-70 ml chicken stock in a day), he doesn't look much better and doesn't seem to have gained much weight. He grooms himself, purrs when we brush his whiskers, was somewhat alert when he saw a squirrel a couple of days ago, sleeps next to me on my bed at night, but also prefers to keep to himself during most of the day. I also noticed that he has been drinking more water than usual, every hour or two (which the vet said is a good thing and nothing to worry about). He urinates much more than earlier (considering the increased water/chicken stock intake, I guess) and his feces are dark brown.
I understand that it might take a couple of weeks for everything to become normal but I am still quite worried about my cat and his health. Also, I'm not sure if what we're feeding him is right and enough for him - I'm not sure about his age but he must be around 7 years old now, and he used to weigh around 5 kgs when he was healthy.
I have a cat who has an extremely sensitive stomach, and has for years eaten California Natural chicken and rice cat food, and it has long been the only thing he can not vomit back up repeatedly. Now, the company who makes that food sold out, and the formula is changing (my pet supply store owner tells me this), and I really need to find another cat food that ONLY contains Chicken and Rice, or JUST chicken (plus the required vitamins/minerals, of course). All the foods I have looked into have things like rosemary, and blueberries, and tomato, and fish, and yucca, and cranberries, and tons of other things that make him really really sick all the time. Do you know of ANY commercial cat food that has only meat (preferably chicken, but other poultry is ok, he cannot eat ANY fish) and rice or possibly meat and another easy to digest grain (oat? barley?) (he also can't eat corn at all)? I know I could feed him home cooked, or raw, and I do feed him actual chicken sometimes (raw and cooked, though lately only cooked, and only 1/8th a cup at a time, or he pukes it back up - I have been trying to change his food, rather unsuccessfully), but he really demands "crunchies" as we call them, dry kibble cat food. Any suggestions? I am considering trying to figure out how to BAKE my own KIBBLES for him! Help?
Here are the ingredients of the only food he could hold down:
Chicken, Chicken Meal, Ground Brown Rice, Chicken Fat, Sunflower Oil, Flaxseed, Taurine, Natural Flavors and Vitamins/Minerals. (that was ALL that was in it - NOW they added ROSEMARY, resulting in cat puking everywhere, and my dealer says it will only get worse as they cut more corners!)
Anyone know of anything comparable in ingredients, or know how to make home-made crunchy KIBBLE? Do you know of a supplement mix that you can add to chicken (no bones, no organ meat) and rice to make it complete and balanced for a cat?
He is elderly, but has no known chronic conditions, and he has had this sensitivity for many many years (I do not think he is sick, he seems happy and healthy other than vomiting his food, and has a history of not being able to eat other brands of foods).
He is 1 year old, and i really want him to be happy. What cuold i do? Should i give him home made food?? plz help!!!!! plz!
I have an outdoor cat who I just took to the vet with urinary blockage. He will be flushed and sent home with recommendation of low Mg Ca food (iams or science diet) which is currently out of my price range due to medical bills for my daughters. If I could figure out how to feed just one cat this food I could afford it for a while. Problem is I have 6 Triple XLG barn cats. They are in the 20-30 lb range and the size of racoons (they are all fixed male Maine Coons). Even sick, this one weighed in at 25lbs this AM. Don't tell me they are fat, as I'm sure they are not. These are much bigger cats than most people have ever seen measuring close to a yard from the nose to the BASE of the tail. Size of a Bobcat and quite good at their jobs of being verminators. You can imagine how much they eat and it's not like they each have a bowl with their name on it. They share from two large bowls. Is there any commercial food that is lower in ash, magnesium and calcium that would be better than the fleet farm special food I feed now? Or what about feeding home made chicken and rice? I've done that before for a cat who had issues with allergies and weight loss. Would that be helpful to keep him unblocked? They do have access to fresh water all the time, a warm hay stall, and the food dish is filled each AM. Even though they are barn cats, they get annual vaccinations, regular worming and each one gets petted and loved on each day like all cats deserve.
While I can't afford to put 150lbs of cat onto pricey special diet food, I am prepared to do something to help. I just don't know what food is most cost effective.
Vet news. He isn't blocked! Instead he has in infection and they are waiting for a urine sample to prescribe the proper antibiotics. He still hasn't peed on his own and continues to groom.
I am aware that cats need a bit if salt but not sure! just a small pinch when boiling chicken is it OK?
I try and give my baby home made food besides the one recommended by the vet, Royal Canin , because he's been castrated and this special one helps him not to develop crystals that can be a problem.
Please advise-Thanks
My ferret has always been eating only dry food, few bits of meat from time to time. I would like her to eat also moist food (e.g. cat food or home made ferret food) but she doesn't even want to look at it. Is there any trick or way to make her switch from food to food? She will stay hungry, starving herself if she doesn't see dry food in her bowl. :(
he was ok for awhile on NB duck and Pea dry food, but now is bleeding a little again,I am reading that I should try grainless canned food, and/or homemade recipes. I have been giving him boiled ground turkey breast too. And get rid of the clay litter!
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks!
I know there are so many pet stores... but this is what I really want to do with my life :P
my petstore would be different...
I would have a grooming station and a Photography station within the store... i dont want a huge store... I want more of a boutique.
I would probably want a total of 4 groomers (having 2 work the first 5 hours its open and the second 2 working the last 5 hours its open)
I would want 2 photgraphers... again one working first 5 one working second 5.
I would sell cute doggy clothes/ coats/ halloween costumes, Collars, Leashes, cat &dog toys, Food (but only the healthy non-filler foods), Home made treats, normal treats.
I would not sell any pets... I would however promote the humaine societies in my area.
I would sell beds/blankets/shampoo (other grooming stuff), and then just stuff for dog owners... like those shirts and mugs that say "I love my German Sheperd"
So do you think a store like this would stay open?
I would plan on opening it in an upper-middle or upper class area.
during the holidays we would have santa come in... so people could take picture with their pets and santa! :)
I live in a rental home beside a very large field in a city. A year ago the field was mowed down, the trees removed, and then came the mice. I told my landlord a year ago (in person) that we had mice and something had to be done. He simply said, "Don't leave food out and they will go away."
It has been a year. When we first moved into the rental property, we were buying the home and on a 3-year lease until the landlord was able to finish his file of bankruptcy. When the 3 years were done, he decided not to sell and put us on a month-to-month lease (that was a year ago).
We have four dogs (three small dogs and one large dog) that we feed daily and have water out for them. The mice infestation is horrible. We've lost our couch, our oven in the home does not work anymore due to mice, they've chewed our appliance cords, they have chewed our clothes in the laundry room (I don't know HOW they get into our clothes that are folded and on TOP of the dryer), they are in the attic, they are in the walls (they have created plenty of holes), our stereo system is gone, the Wii sensor bar is gone - it's just non-stop!
My questions are:
What do I do? Do I pay for a pest control service myself?
Do I need to put it in writing?
Will I be held responsible for the damages that have been done to the home?
NO food is left out. In fact, we don't even use our lower drawers in the kitchen for ANYTHING anymore and only use the cabinets up top because they destroy everything. We've used mouse-traps, home made traps, glue traps - we even had a friend with a cat let us use some soiled kitty litter to put around the home to try and deter the mice. We caught 24 mice in a 24 hour period once and still it continues.
I live in Oklahoma County, OK.
On a side note: It's really hard to get this landlord to fix ANYTHING in our home (dishwasher, plumbing, and we also have an entire room that was added on by the landlord that has an electrical short). We're still on a month-to-month and have no written lease.
I'm afraid to move while leaving the house in disarray from all the mice.. especially if I don't know if I will be held responsible for these damages.
This landlord has never (in the 4 years that we've lived here) had any sort of pest control service.
My cat was diagnosed with bad kidneys, and I want to start making at least some of his food, but all the recopies call for ta urine, calcium, and other vitamins. Where can I get these?
I am staying at my parents over christmas with my two dwarf hammies. I put them both in a box with the lid ajar while I cleaned out their cage; one went to sleep in some bedding and the one who is missing busied herself digging through the food bowl for something nice to eat. I was only a few minutes and assembled the cage at the bottom of the stairs (its a loft conversion so my room is the only room up there!) but when i got back one was missing! I don't know she got out, they haven't been able to climb out before and there isn't any sign of chewing or clawing. I have searched the whole house hundreds of times and can't find her. there isn't anywhere she could get out and with family all around and looking i don't know how she could get past us all! it has been 24 hours and we stayed up quietly all night waiting and watching and have left broccoli in the middle of the room next to the cage to lure her out but still no sign. Im really worried as her sister was calling for her but she didn't come out and i haven't heard anything to suggest she is here either. I have looked everywhere but have seen no sign. To top it off my parents have a kitten although she is a rescue cat and is very nervous and has never caught anything in her life im sure the predator instinct is innate! This means i don't want to make home made traps for her ncase the cat gets there first! any tips to get my hammie back?
additional note:- we don't suspect the cat as yet she was out when hammie went missing and we have watched her ever since (and kept her well fed just to be on the safe side!) how can she just vanish?!? we have pulled everything out looking!
Sometimes when my cats vomits its furballs I think she suffers... or I do !
What are some safe proven home-made recipes of food I may give my cat to make it easier for her to expel its furballs either through vomiting or defecating? She's 8 years old in human years and has never given birth.
I prefer to receive as advice something I can cook myself gathering natural common ingredients. I live outside US, in Peru, and I may not be able to find certain pharmaceutical brands/products here.
I have decided that I want to make my cats food. I am quite disenchanted with commercial cat foods and with four cats I am having a hard time finding one that suits all four cats. I do NOT like stepping in cat barf in the morning, which is caused by the cat food...YUK! Does anyone know of a good website with recipes for home made meat based cat food that has been nutritionally tested? I already make my own dog food so time and money are not concerns, just nutrition and what is good for my cats. Thanks for all helpful suggestions.
All of my cats have been seen by the vet, there are no underlying health problems. I have tried many different foods, not Purina junk, quality foods, like Wellness, Taste of the Wild, Blue Buffalo, etc. With each food, a different cat starts throwing up. It IS the food that is causing the barfing. Not worms, not kidneys, not any illness that the vet could find. My vet was actually the one that suggested putting them on a natural diet.
Cute home made Christmas food gifts?
I'm trying to come up with some ideas for food gifts.
Last year I made chocolate covered marshmallows, banana bread, popcorn balls, and peppermint bark.
I'm trying to think of new things to do this year.
I have (ages):
four little kids 6 - 9
25 yr old brother who acts like a kid
For the kids I want something cutesy and Christmasy.
I was thinking chocolate pretzels with christmas sprinkles.
I wanted two other items but I need ideas!
As for my other brother, I don't know what he'd like. He lives alone and has a cat. I don't want to make him a cake because I don't think he'd eat it all by himself....
Thanks!
I know sounds weird... But i wanna make my cat something on Thanks Giving what can cats have potato's, gravy, Turkey, any recipe??? thanks :)
I'm thinking of feeding my cats home made/raw food, but to be honest don't know where to start? Just wondering if anyone can help; links, experience, etc. Thanks in advance.
i'm from Pakistan and i want to order Purina Friskies.. my cat eats nothing else.. i've tried a variety of other available products and home made items, but all she wants is friskies..
i can't find friskies anywhere in the market.. they say that their order has not reached yet.. so i have no option but to order it myself....even though it'd be expensive for me.. but anything for my cats..
i browsed petdirect.com but i don't know if they ship to Pakistan or not...
please help also if you know where to find the lowest rates.
thank you very much.
lolz Jimmy.. but persian and siamese cats are very common here in Pakistan..they are bred and sold just like anywhere around the world.. other varieties are rare..
i am a proud parent of a siamese and a snowshoe =)
i've had my cat for about 3 years and a half now . he has a very pissed off nature but he is only friendly to me as i have hand raised him when he was about 2 weeks old i found him near a car . i think his mother left him anyways i fed him normal purina, whiskas food or home made food such as sardine, chicken and turkey breast but most of the time he would not eat it at all he will just leave it there then i will give him another meal he will be the same and will refuse to eat for days. i used to give him treats when he bes good it was boiled prawn he used to love it until he got bored and stopped eating then i would give him sardine with no success he would eat it... wat could i do with his diet!?
Commercial products contain flavor additions and the throw-away animal by products. Wouldn't it be better to cook chicken and other foods and combine them for the kitties.
because that tined stuff is horrible and cost a bomb (we have 5 cats) so if anyone can help me out with any healthy recipes (if their cheep to make even better) because i love my cats and want to do the best for them
Is there any way to economically make healthy home-made cat food? I want to feed my cats what is best for them, but I have a new baby, and money is tight. The recipes I have found for home made cat food are sometimes more expensive than what I eat for dinner myself.
Should I give up the idea until I have a bigger income? I just feel bad feeding them typical cat chow where the first ingredient is "corn", and I would spring for the more expensive cat food but I wanted to first find out if there is a good way of making their food myself without breaking the bank. Thanks.
With all of the recalls on pet food all the time, I am becoming really sketchy as to if I should touch the stuff or not. I am also scared of making my own pet food because I want to make sure that my pets have all of the nutrition that they need! Can anyone help me here? I want to make home made pet food that I can trust! I have a Siberian Husky, Tuxedo cat, and a Ragdoll kitten. Thanks!
Our cat is a female, spayed, 18yrs old, lives indoors and has hyper thyroid. She is being given herbal medicine for treatment. She used to love food, now she's anorexic. She sleeps most the time, only gets up to drink water and pee...everywhere.
Now and then she uses the litter box, but recently she's been doing it everywhere. She's barely eaten anything at all for a week. My parents can't afford the vet because they are extremely expensive out here in Long Island- $200 and that is without blood work! The last vet visit, which was 5 months ago, said that her health is fine- kidneys normal too, only the thyroid was the issue. The vets out here are inflexible and won't drop their cost regardless of money issues, which stinks.
I'm going to be honest, is it possible that our cat is going to die? I know that if she doesn't get enough nutrients, she can starve or become malnourished...which is terrible. I tried offering different foods- wet, dry even home made chicken. She ate only a few pieces. We have no idea what to do about her?!
There's nothing wrong with herbal medicine. It is a preventative, not a curative, in some cases. We refused doctor prescribed pills because the side effects were too great. We refused surgery because it's too tramatic and stressful for her. We refused radioactive iodine treatment because it's $3,000. The doctor himself said that there is nothing that he can do if we refuse his method of treatment.
I suguested to my parents to try an appatite stimulant, which is safe and natural.
I forgot to add, the herbal medicine did work for a good long while. I'm suspecting that it could possiblly be old age, since she does not present any of the hyper-t symptoms she once had...which was hungry all the time, running around the house and bellowing meows.
my cat feeds on dry cat food, boiled fish,it wont eat anything like chicke meat, beef,i want to feed my cat with a variety of foods, and that too home made foods.but she refuses to eat anything else,pl.help, how can i change her behaviour?i love her verymuch.

I found several interesting recepies for both dog and cat treats that I thought might be a good addition to help expand my (currently small) dog walking business. and earn a little extra cash for myself.
My idea is to make them all natural (I heard it'sall natural dog treats are popular) and make a few batches to offer to my current clients to sample for free, and then hopefully offer them at a cheap rate.
The thing is I don't yet have a good handle on the costs as for te recepies I'm looking at, I haven't had to buy many of the ingrediants recently. so for example would the following recipie be cheat to make, than thus be able to sell relatively cheap to my clients?
2 cups brown rice flour
1 Tablespoon activated charcoal (find this at drugstores, not the briquets!)
3 Tablespoons canola oil
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped fresh mint
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
2/3 cup lowfat milk
Also I know there must be laws about selling pet food or treats, can anyone point me to were I can find out more about them if there are any?
I did some general pricing and for this particular recipie that came between $3-$5 per batch, less if I bargain hunt. I don't know yet how many treats this ill make, but I'm sure if I just make like 50 cents ontop of the cost of eat bag, I'd be doing pretty good, both profit and price wise :)
My cat recently had some kind of urinary defect...Crystal blocking is urethra or somethin like that....
Well I read he isnt supposed to eat hard food anymore, cuz it comes back easier, but I cannot afford that special wet, outta the can cat food.
What can I throw together, cheaply.....
I am on WIC but I hardly use what they give me, especially what they give me for my son I just use the cereals. I make home made baby food so I was looking for people in need of jar foods. Well last night I was picking up all the jar foods, crazy amounts! 64 jars of fruits n veggies, and 31 of meats. Some one walked up beside me and she was young and going through the foods with me when I offered to give her my jars outside. We talked for a little bit and she mentioned she was also looking to rent a room and we exchanged numbers.
I rent from my mom, she split her house like a duplex so we live completely seperate. I have three bedrooms on my side. I have a huge room, larger then a normal master bedroom, that I just throw extra crap in, so I would have a huge room for her. But the thing is, I don't know if I just offer it? It also needs a lot of work in that room, above the room is the attic and the attic floor needs to come down, so that would be the room's ceiling. I had my cats stay in there for a while so it is a little messy.
I also have pets, 3 dogs and like 4 or 5 cats. So the house isn't always in the best shape. I would obviosuly need to fix the room up for her some how, but how would I go about doing that? I really don't have the money to do that... should I ask for first and last, that way I can make it decent? How should I get to know her better before offering it? Also, rent is supposed to be 100/wk per person, but my son's father left me so last month and the month before she still got 800, but now i can't pay so would it be fair to still charge 100/wk or 400/mo? We can easily add a cable box and stuff for her if she wanted...
because one is in n out!
omg, how many times am i gonna get bashed for receiving wic n giving it to ppl who need it? it wudnt b money in my pocket it wud go straight to my mom! i wud b helping the other girl out!!!!!!!
My cat brought home two very young birds yesterday. One was already dead, but I felt very bad for the other one and rescued it. His wounds aren't bad - he has a small chunk of skin ripped off his back, and a very little scratch on his leg and they both have already scabbed over, I've cleaned them multiple times with home-made saline solution and will continue to clean them multiple times a day to prevent infection. He has feathers growing in on his wings and small fluffy feather tufts growing along his spine, head, under his eyes, and where the wings connect to the body, so I'm guessing he's between 3~5 days. He has no fractures that I'm aware of and can scoot himself around by his wings. He's already made significant progress from last night -- I wasn't even sure that he would make it through, but he did. I've been feeding him water-soaked bread. He has been making regular.. bowel movements o_O. Going outside and looking for bugs and worms isn't an option at the moment, nor can I go out to the store and buy specialized food for him. Does anyone know if he can eat wet cat food, or any other sort of household food for either humans or cats that he can eat?
And don't worry, he's plenty warm :3 It's 80 degrees in the room we're keeping him in plus I gave him a hot water bottle to lay on top of. Also, I have no idea what breed he is -- the feathers on his wings are growing in gray, and the fluffy feathers are light brown, though, if that helps any.
Err, my cat is an outdoor/indoor cat, I can't stop him from going outside or else he gets depressed. -_- It's only a common bird, we have thousands of them. I asked a bird expert and gave her pictures and stuff and she said that it's definitely not some sort of rare species. In case you haven't noticed, cats naturally want to chase rats, mice, and birds, so don't effin tell me that none of it wouldn't have happened if I LOCKED MY CAT INDOORS. That is ABUSE to him, because he was practically raised outside. Not letting him out makes him sick, literally. If you're not gonna help me, then go away.
